Meet the Teacher

Hello!! If you are visiting this site it is likely that you have just found out that I am your child's Kindergarten teacher!  As a mom, I too would be checking out the teacher's website to see what I could find out about the person with whom my child is going to be spending a large part of their day! 

 

My name is Miss Melissa Mullen. I am 36 years young! I live in Edwardsville with my son, Kalvin who is starting 5th grade this year. I feel that it is important to give you a little glimpse of who I am as you are entrusting me with your most precious gifts! Being charged with the role of your child's first teacher is a responsibility that I do not take lightly and feel so fortunate to be granted! My goal this year is to get your kiddo, and your family, off to a great start in their school career. I want to foster a love of learning within your child that they will carry with them throughout their school career. We will laugh a lot, learn a lot, and grow...A LOT this year! This will be my 7th year teaching Kindergarten and my third year at Leclaire Elementary as a Leclaire Leopard! I am excited to make this my best year yet!

I will send a little more in depth "get to know you" letter home in the Kindergarten Orientation folder that you will receive on Thursday, August 9th.

 

Your child's first day of school will be on Tuesday, August 14th.  During orientation, I will be covering all of the important things to give you the confidence and peace of mind for your child's first day (and week) of school!  Remember, these tiny beings are VERY intuitive- as I'm sure you very well know! :)  They will not only pick up on, but will also mirror, your thoughts and feelings towards their very first school experience! Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions after we have covered the information during Kindergarten Orientation!
